Overview

The Document Preview feature allows you to open a document (e.g., a dialogue list or script) from your client and view it in its final formatted form. The preview is read-only and cannot be edited, ensuring that your focus remains on accurate translation and alignment with the visual layout.

This guide walks you through:

  • How to access the Document Preview feature
  • How to use both the in-panel preview and pop-out window
  • Best practices for layout and navigation
  • Built-in security measures

This feature is available in several OOONA tools including Translate Pro, Review, and Multilingual QC

Security and Access Control

The Document Preview is designed with security and confidentiality in mind.

  • Documents are read-only and cannot be downloaded by users.
  • Only clients and authorized project managers have access to the original source files.
  • Translated content is viewable only within the controlled preview environment.

This ensures:

  • Proprietary content remains protected
  • Users cannot export, save, or share documents outside the system
  • Compliance with industry-standard data privacy and content security protocols

Viewing the Document

The document will load on the right-hand side of your interface—next to the video player by default. You can:

  • Scroll through the document vertically
  • Zoom in/out for better legibility
  • Cross-reference with the subtitles table as you work

Adjusting the Preview Pane

Try using the pop-out feature to view the Document Preview in its own window—perfect for making the most of a second monitor or freeing up space in your main workspace.

Need more flexibility? Use the Pop-out feature:

  • Open the preview in a separate window
  • Move it to another monitor or workspace
  • Take full advantage of your screen real estate for focused editing

This is particularly helpful during QA or when working on dual screens.

Navigation and Tools

Within the Document Preview panel, you can:

  • Search for specific terms or phrases
  • Toggle layout views depending on your preference
  • Adjust settings depending on the file type (e.g. Word vs PDF)

Options may vary based on document format:

  • PDFs will show fixed layout rendering
  • Word files may offer richer navigation features

Quality Control with Document Preview

Use the Document Preview to:

  • Compare source and target texts side-by-side
  • Check for line overflow, formatting errors, or omissions
  • Confirm that translations match the document structure

This is a crucial step for QC reviewers and final delivery checks
