Main Toolbar buttons, menus, commands, functions, features
  • Open Project: Allows the user to open a pre-existing project.

  •  

  • Save Project: Saves the changes made to the current project.

  •  

  • Import subtitles: Allows the user to import an existing subtitle file (in a variety of 

  • formats) into project.

  •  

  • Export subtitles: Allows the user to export your project into a variety of 

  • professional subtitle formats.

  •  

  • Open Media Files: Allows the user to open the video/audio files, as well as load video URL

  •  

  • Undo/Redo: These functions, present in almost all current software, allow users to undo or redo changes in the current file. It is mostly useful when some changes are mistakenly applied.

  •  

  • Go to: Allows the user to jump to a specific subtitle or timecode

  •  

  • Project Settings: Allows the user to configure different parameters that most of the time are requested by client specification for subtitle delivery

  •  

  • Hotkeys: When clicked, presents a list of the available shortcuts and hotkeys and the description of what each one does.

  •  

  • Theme Toggle: Allows the user to toggle between a light and a dark theme.

  •  

  • Box: This menu allows the user to place boxed background on subtitles for better readbility and to select which type of box will be placed.

  •  

  • Outline: Allows the user to select which type out outline will be present in each of the letters of the subtitles.

  •  

  • Line Align: Enables the user to choose the alignment of each of the subtitles. The software allows subtitles to be aligned to the left, to the center or to the right.

  •  

  • Justify: Within the previously selected alignment, allows the user to choose how the subtitles will be justified. For example, if the translator chooses a center alignment with left justification the subtitles will acquire the following aspect. 

  •  

  • Vertical Align: Changes the vertical position of the subtitles on the screen. The user may choose from three default positions: bottom of the screen, middle of the screen and top of the screen. Users may also manually raise/drop subtitles by using the “move 1 line up/down command”.

  •  

  • Split Subtitle: Splits the current subtitle into two different subtitles.

  •  

  • Merge Subtitle: Merges the currently selected subtitle with the previous/following one.

  •  

  • Add Subtitle: Adds a new subtitle to the existing project. The user may choose if the subtitle will be added before or after the selected one.

  •  

  • Line Font: Defines the font that will be used in the current selected line. OOONA’s Subtitling Toolkit saves up to two different fonts that may be configured in the project settings menu. (This setting mostly applies to older non-Unicode formats, such as PAC and 890, since they allow only one proprietary character set per subtitle line)

  •  

  • Delete Subtitle: Deletes the current subtitle.
